The Convention of American Instructors of the Deaf (CAID) is an "organization for all teachers, administrators, educational interpreters, residential personnel, and other concerned professionals involved in education of the deaf.".〔Official website of the (Convention of American Instructors of the Deaf )〕 The CAID held its first convention on August 28, 1850, in New York City, New York, at Washington Heights.〔(Proceedings of the First Convention of American Instructors of the Deaf and Dumb (PDF pp. 8-187); the Second Convention of American Instructors of the Deaf and Dumb (PDF pp. 188-397); and the Third Convention of American Instructors of the Deaf and Dumb (PDF pp. 398-686) )〕 The second Convention was held the next year, in 1851, in Hartford, Connecticut and the third Convention was held two years after that, in 1853, in Columbus, Ohio.
